My younger sister made a bad decision that will effect her for the rest of her life and didn't want to tell my mom about it. I chastized her for her decision until she told my mom. Now she completely ignores me.

What can I do to show her that I care for her and was only acting in her best interest?

She is probably more mad and disappointed in herself than she is in you or anyone else, she may not have figured that out yet but she will. Just be patient and nice, she'll come around.

Depending on how young she is, it may take some years for her to realize that you were only acting in her best interest. But, until then, just keep loving her and she will eventually come around. Probably sooner than you think. She is just angry with herself for doing such a foolish thing. But, was it something that she had to tell your parents? Or did you just feel that they should know?

Respect her space and when she is ready to talk you can let her know that you love her and that is why you did what you did. You did the right thing. Just make sure you respect her... that will help to mend the rift.

HEY MAN, YOU ALREADY DID IT!
Like you said, she is younger.
When she matures, she may even thank you.
At least now mom knows and can help her deal with the situation.

When she grows up she will see that, until then at least she has a brother that watches out for her.........but remember, she has to make her own mistakes.......she is pissed at you for making her feel guilty for not telling your mom, the quilt comes from her, not you!

Just be there for her and let her know you care and that you love her. Do let her know that you are not judging her. It will take some time, but she just know that she loves you.
