there is no button combo for factory reset

you have to go to the apple website and download the updater software and there, if you plug in the ipod, it should give you the option to update the firmware, or reformat it back to factory.

if your playlist is not working, i know this sounds dumb, but have you tried clicking the play button when you are on a song you want to play? Also, are you trying to play in iTunes or in your iPod? Sometimes if the song is not found on your hard drive, iTunes will skip over the song and move on to the next.

If all this doesn't work (and you tried the 5 R's the user above me posted) you might have to get in contact with a local store that fixes iPods and get them to help you out or call Apple's customer service for help.

Stick to one issue at a time. You're asking 5 different questions. If it says do not disconnect it's probably being updated automatically by the program, which will change the songs/videos on it each time. Check your settings/options for updating it on itunes or whatever program you use. The manual has trouble shooting tips in it. And there is a number you can call, should be in the manual or on the manufacturers web site, to ask for help.

I don't think there's a button combo. If the ipodupdater software from ipod.com doesn't work to format it, you're ipod is likely to be broken. However, this same problem has happened to my Ipod- it seems to just corrupt files as time goes by, but it still functions as normal.

These five steps (known as the five Rs) will conquer most iPod issues.
1. Reset your iPod.
2. Retry with a different USB port.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software.
5. Restore your iPod.
