Good Question. Too bad you have gotten answers that are nothing more than uninformed opinions posing as fact.
First of all, I am not an astrologist. I don't even know whether or not I believe in it, or even a little. But I am not here to state as proven fact that it is a practice that if done correctly can produce correct predictions, etc... because I do not know that for sure. Nor do I know for sure that it is "a joke", or total BS. Because I do not know that for sure either.
I can say with a good amount of certainty, that there are indeed plenty of frauds out there, claiming to be astrologists, when in fact, they just want your money. There are frauds and con persons around trying every trick in the book to con your money from you.
Practices such as astrology, tarrot card reading, and things of that nature that are fairly intangible at the time one is paying out their money in hopes of learning their future ahead of time, probably tend to attract more frauds than many other professions.
However, that is not for anyone who does not know for absolute sure one way or the other that there are not real and honest readers of the stars. It has been scientifically proven that because of the Earth's electromagnetic field that surrounds the planet, things such as water are definately affected by the moon. The tides in the ocean, and yes, the water in a person's body. The moon is closest to the earth, but that is not to say that it is the only object in our solar system that has an effect on people and the decisions they make. On the other hand, who (here on YA at least) really knows for absolute sure.
O.K. sorry about that. I just sometimes get so sick of reading over and over people "answering" the questions of other with their own bias, un-researched opinions. That is no help to the one who asks because he/she really wants or needs to know.
Now, I think I strayed from your question, and I appologize for that. Astrologists aside for the moment, Pluto is what it is, it will continue to do what it has always done. It could care less if some scientists or whoever here on Earth decided that they would be changing it's Name in the school books and not calling it a Planet.
These are just words used by humans to describe things. Do you really think that the far away object at the edge of our solar system has changed within itself one little bit, as to how it works, what it does just because someone decided to call it an "Icy Dwarf" when it used to be called a Planet? Maybe next year they will decide that the Moon really is green cheese. Would it suddenly start behaving differently because of a name-change it was given by humans on Earth? I don't think so. Seriously. It would continue to go through it's cycles, raise and lower the tides, etc.... just the same as always.
And Pluto, Icy Dwarf, or whatever it's name on earth may be sometime in the future, really does not care, it is highly unlikely that it can hear us, understand English or any other Language spoken here on Earth, It doesn't read school books. It doesn't care what we call it. It certainly won't change it's behavior because of a frivolous name-change by humans.
We are not that powerful to change the behavior of an object that has been orbiting the sun for a very, very long time, and probably will continue for a much longer time.
So, don't worry about what humans do with it's name or how they decide to categorize it, or anything else orbiting the sun. Our government tries so hard to control us, apparently it isn't enough. Now they want to control outer space. Well, they will only get any sort of gratification by re-naming it, if they get reactions out of people who honestly think that that will change a single thing.
Please don't humor the powers that be? It only encourages them and causes them to put out more and more propaganda.
O.K? Don't let them confuse you. You're smarter than that. I can tell by the skepticism in your question.

Just because Pluto is no longer considered a planet anymore doesn't chance the fact that it still influences the solar system and have an influence on horoscopes and astrology. Charon isn't a planet but it is listed on astrology charts and I don't see that changing.

Pluto IS TOO a planet! And always will be. Long after the Earth comes to an end on December 21st 2012 there will be a planet Pluto. Don't listen to them cretans. They wouldn't know a planet if one was to fall on them.

YES!!! Most Emphatically yes! Pluto's lay line diverges on the axis of the second moon of Uranus this said (and I'm sure you'll agree) the possibilities are endless and now that Pluto has been removed from the planetary lists, WHO KNOWS what might happen? All the textbooks will have to change, astrologers will have to retype next week's columns (hmm, bet they never even saw that coming) and so forth. It may mean the end of human civilisation as we know it!
By now you may realize that i am most definetly yanking your chain...in my less than expert opinion, what does it matter, use Tarot its more reliable...
OR one of those dart boards with stuff on it, like "feed cat" or "ignore what astrologers say, planets are millions and millions of miles away"

There is no scientific basis to astrology...and frankly, its not even a very good lie.
If pluto matters, they'll just claim that just because scientists "demoted" it, doesn't mean its still not going to tell you when you might get in a car accident or fall in love. Just never ask youself how a chunk or rock millions of miles away can affect you...

they change just the status. Pluto will be still there and if they'll add an/other planet/s they won't change the influence that those astral bodies have, they will change just the status that is just a name.

Horoscopes can be entertaining, but
there is nothing real about astrology or horoscopes. These are very old-fashioned ideas that have been perpetuated by misinformed people and by charlatans.

the planets have no effect on the horoscopes the horoscopes are based on star constellations( groups of suns). The amount of known planets wont effect anything as they have always been affecting us even when we didn't know of their exsistance. the effect is created through the resonance of the planets/dwarf planets/ moons etc. this resonance has always been.
