Don't pay attention to the meanies here!
3(2x + 5) = 39
6x + 15 = 39 6 times 4 = 24 24 + 15 = 39
x = 4

Solve,

3(2x+5) = 39

Expanding,

6x + 15 = 39

6x = 39 - 15

6x = 24

x = 24/6

x = 4

Solve,

2(6k - 1) = -38

Expanding,

12k - 2 = -38

12k = 2 - 38

12k = -36

k = -36/12

k = -3

3(2x+5)=39
6x+15=39 then transpose 15 to the right
6x=39-15
6x=24 divide both sides by the coefficient of the variable x
(6x=24)/6 to cancel the coefficient of the variable x
x=4

2(6k-1)=-38
12k-2=-38 then transpose -2 to the right
12k=-38+2
12k=36 divide both sides by the coefficient of the variable k
(12k=36)/12 to cancel the coefficient and you'll get the value of the variable k
k=3

3(2x + 5)
or 2x + 5 = 13 (Dividing frm 3 on both sides)
or 2x= 13-5
or 2x=8
or x=4

Hope now u can solve it.
Verification
or 3(2x + 5)
or 3 (8 + 5)=39
or 3 (13)= 39
or 39=39

2(6k - 1) = -38
or 12k - 2 = -38
or 12k = 2 - 38
or 12k = -36
or k = -36/12
or k = -3

Verification
2(6k - 1) = -38
2{(6*(-3)-1}=-38
2(-18-1) = -38
2(-19)= -38
-38 = -38

x=4. You need to work the problem backwards. Take 39/3 which is 13. So we know that (2x+5) must equal 13. Then take 13 -5 = 8. So 2x must equal 8. 8 divided by 2 is 4.

First you have to multiply the 3 into the parenthesis. That is 6X+15=39. Subtract 15 from both sides and get 6X=24. Divide the 6 to get the X alone. This equals X=4. Hope this helps.

Just a matter of opening the brackets.

3(2x+5)=39
6x+15=39
6x=39-15
6x=24
x=24/6
x=4.
2(6k-1)=-38
12k-2=-38
12k=-38+2
12k=-36
k=36/12
k=3

3(2x+5) = 39

3*2x + 3*5 = 39
6x + 15 = 39
6x = 39 - 15
6x = 24
x = 24/6
x = 4

--------

2(6k-1) = -38

2*6k - 2*1 = -38
12k - 2 = -38
12k = -38 + 2
k = -36/12
k = -3

3(2x+5)=39 -> 6x+15=39 (distributive) -> 6x=24 (subtract 15) -> x=4 (24 over 6)

2(6k-1)=-38 -> 12k-2=-38 (distributive) -> 12k=-36 (add 2) -> k=-3 (-36 over 12)
