I am a European born naturalized American citizen. When I lived in Europe almost 20 years ago I sometimes met some who did not like the USA but they were few and far between. Back then people still remembered that the USA got us out of WW II and that they stood between us and the USSR. I still remember seeing USSR tanks rolling into Czechoslovakia on the news when I was little in 1967 or 68 ,we were all scared that we would have been next if the American hadn't been there. That is what outages me so much about my fellow Europeans. What a treacherous bunch! My European relatives in my age group admit that a lot of it is jealousy. The young on the other hand remember nothing of what the USA has done for Europe.
And another thing; I think that the USA is the epitome of Human achievement. I sometimes think that humanity really sucks considering all the horrible inhumane things we have all done to each other since the dawning of man, but then I think about the USA and then realize that it was all worthwhile after all because somehow someway somewhere some off us created the USA. I am really so unbelievably lucky to have ended up here, to bad that some of you American born ones can't see what you have!

It is because we are the only superpower. Mostly jealously.
Back when there was the cold war, everyone hated Russia and loved us. After communism fell, we were the only 'Big Guy' left, and so obviously people do not like the big guy just because he is a big guy.
It has much more to do with that than with politics or anything else. Look back over time and you will see that was when hatred of America began...
They still loved us when the Berlin wall fell down, but not that long after. The Europeans etc have short lived love.

Is that why a million people try to immigrate here every year?
Is that why every third world country calls us first when there's a disaster or some tin plated dictator marches into their country?
Is that why our military hardware and technology is sought after more then any nation on earth
Is that why we have so many students studying here from other countries?
Is that because we don't wet ourselves in fear when some terrorist madman threatens us?

USA use to show hegemony over other countries specially those whom it thinks economically prosperous.If this is not reason then why it remained silent over Nepal autocracy.Because Nepal has no oil resources neither it has nuclear armaments.

Because the rest of the world is looking as this country as a bunch of war mongering morons who are doing nothing but creating more problems for the world. It isnt because of anyones whining its because we have idiots in office

What a tribute! I also like the USA. People in my country say bad thing about the America but they ask me to help them come here. I cannot help them come and live here, only visit.

Because America is an arrogant country. If you lived somewhere in another country and was always hearing "America is the best nation!" you'd probably be sick of us too.
