I have heard in some states gay marriages are allowed. Does anyone know what states those are?

I know it is not available in Kentucky. But to answer one person's question, yes. I would not have asked this if I wasn't. I do know through a friend that it is in California. But I would have to find that out. But I am just curious.

Massachusetts = full marriage rights, but they're voting on whether to overturn that this November. (Click the link below.)

Connecticut and Vermont have civil unions.

Your marriage will not be recognized in most other states, and you will not get federal rights. (I know, because I married in Massachusetts.)

i think of they are against gay marriage using fact they suspect what the bible says, to the letter... and the bible says that homosexuality is incorrect. It additionally names marriage as a non secular business enterprise, for this reason... if in accordance to this faith homosexuality is incorrect, how can they then enable this morally incorrect dating to end a non secular ceremony? i'm no longer asserting that I disagree with gay marriage, yet... from they are viewpoint, it particularly is sensible. Why can no longer we basically enable the gay's have all the rights of a married couple, and basically call it something else for crying out loud? The Christians do basically no longer pick their religious ceremony taken from them...

Mass is only state. CA has domestic partnership registery which gets ya a state but not fed tax break, and many employers honor it for health and retirement benefits. It also provides some other legal benefits, but it's still not the same rights as marriage.

mass is the only 1 with full gay rights and really it should be all 50 states. The way this country was made by our founding fathers everyone is to be treated equal and nothing is said about god or anything. the only reference to god in this country comes from the currency and that wasnt added until sometime in the 1900s.

Although legal in Mass, it's not portable and will not be recognized in any other state, this includes VT and Ct as well.
You still cannot file joint/married Federal tax returns, you will not be able to claim SSN from your partner, you will not be protected or allowed the other 1,149 rights, priveledges and protections given to legally married opposite gender couples.

So, don't go getting your hopes up. It's still restrictive in nature and not fully recognized.

The only U.S state that gay marriage is legal in is Massachusetts but it is legal in Canada, Spain, and Belgium. In any state, you and your partner can have a commitment ceremony and while it won't be a legal marriage, it will be between you two.

It's legal here in Massachusetts, but only if you are a resident of this state.
