I went to the pharmacy and got a comb designed for lice. Then you comb it out. DO NOT scrape it off!! Some people put baby oil on it to soften it up before they use the lice comb.
The lice comb works the best because the bristles are very close together

pour a little baby oil on the area massage the area and leave on over night would be good. But you may not want to risk having oil on the bedding but as long as you can leave it on the better. Wash out with shampoo as you would normally do.This should work if the cradle cap is bad you may have to try a couple of times. I am on old fashioned mother there may be something better on the market these days.

Massage baby oil into scalp that will loosen up some of the dry scalp that would normally fall away. Use a comb and GENTLY comb the scalp to get rid of most of the scaley skin. Wash baby's hair, making sure to get all the loose dead skin cells out. After baby has clean head and hair, massage more baby oil into the scalp. It helps keep the scalp from getting as dry. My son had cradle cap until he was at least 6 months. It just wouln't go away, so that was a daily thing for us. just make sure not to comb too hard, just hard enough to rub some of it off. it probably won't look better until you do it a couple of times.

My sons' pediatrician suggested using a bit of baby oil on the spots of cradle cap. Then after it soaked in I used a baby comb and it came right off. The only thing is, it can create bald spots for awhile since baby's hair isn't real "sturdy." But if you continue to use baby oil after giving baby a bath without using a comb, it should go away by itself in time. Good luck!

I know some people might freak out by my saying this, but I used Head & Shoulder's. I was told this by a Neo-Natal (NICU) nurse at Children's Hospital. She had 4 kids and she used it on them. My son was a preemie and had to spend a lot of time laying in the incubator because preemies can't take a lot of stimulation so he had horrible cradle cap and Head & Shoulders cleared it up really fast. Just use a few small drops and be careful to not get it in baby's eyes.

My baby had it really bad, for a long time. It seemed once it went away it came back. Now that she is older she still gets really bad dandruff and has to always use head and shoulders. Just so you know, I am thinking some people just have oily flaky scalps. I would scrape it off with a comb little by little, it will look red when your done, so just be patient. I put a beautiful hat on my baby's head, during the whole process

Paul Mitchell 'Baby Don't Cry' shampoo available at salons only : lather, rinse, apply very small amount back to hair and massage into scalp. comb through and let dry. every time i notice any little flakies or scaly looking stuff on my 6 month old's head, i use this shampoo. it's only 6-7 dollars and lasts forever!!
