there are many different types of electronic guitar tuners out there. Some are cheap while some are pretty expensive. There are basically two different types of tuners. There are the tuners that produce a sound, and then you tune your guitar to match that sound; and the other type it the type that you pluck a string, and then it shows on a little screen what pitch your at, and then you tune it till it matches the correct note.

There are places on the net, and also programs, that will play the tones you need to tune a guitar. Google for them.
Or, buy a tuner. There are now a few that clip onto the peghead and pick up the sound through the wood. No cables needed. They work pretty well. You can get an intellitouch for around $40.

I suggest you contact someone who knows how to and ask to show you in person because its not easy to explain without your guitar in your hand. You don't want to spend money for tuners and things unless you are sticking with it. Besides, you should learn how to tune it without the help of any devices in case you leave your tuner at home one day. You may find out how to do it on the Internet too if your type in the address window How to tune a guitar.
