I am so sorry to hear about your horse. I just had a horse that was stuck in a barbed wire fence also. she was 20 years old though. She wasn't as young as your horse. Try to think of happy memories with her. She may not get well enough to ride, but she can still be a loyal friend. It sounds like you love her very much. Hope you and her both have a quick recovery.

Take care of her watch her heal that could help get the image out of your head. But learn from what happened and get rid of the barbed wire. It had it's time and place but nowadays it's unnecessary. Put in some other type of fensing so it doesn't happen again. I'm sorry that your baby got hurt and I hope she heals up wonderfuly, and I hope your emotional scars heal as her physical ones do.

Your horse could've been spooked by some wild animal like a racoon or snake. When something spooks a horse, that horse will run wild on all fours with almost nothing held back. And I suspect that's what happened to yours, unfortunately.
It's best to stable the horse, give her a warm bed of hay to sleep safely in, so to best prevent these accidents from recurring.

as she heals so will the image in your head.sadly it just takes time.My baby horse ran into something and had a gash on the front of her shoulder when I was on my honeymoon. When My mom told me about it I had to come home early.I had all kinds of pictures stuck in my head.I didn't know how bad it was.It was a big deep wound but it healed up nice and you can't even tell where it was now. She was about 2 months old then.

Oh, Country Chick, I so hurt for you and for your horse. But, I so admire you for your compassion.
I hope this helps:
Tests are of two kinds: the tests (problems) we bring on ourselves due to our disobedience to God's laws; and the tests which God sends to us for our perfection.
TWO KINDS OF TORMENT
Know that there are two kinds of torment: subtile and gross. For example, ignorance itself is a torment, but it is a subtile torment; indifference to God is itself a torment; so also are falsehood, cruelty and treachery. All the imperfections are torments, but they are subtile torments. Certainly for an intelligent man death is better than sin, and a cut tongue is better than lying or calumny.
The other kind of torment is gross--such as penalties, imprisonment, beating, expulsion and banishment. But for the people of God separation from God is the greatest torment of all.
I'm so sorry for your pain, and I shall pray this Prayer for Healing for both you and your horse:
Thy name is my healing, O my God, and remembrace of Thee is my remedy. Nearness to Thee is my hope, and love for Thee is my companon. Thy mercy to me is my healing and my succor in both this world and the world to come. Thou, verily, art the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. --Baha'u'llah
