I'm always so tired. I thought it was menapause because I'm 50, but for the past three weeks, 24-7 day and night hot flashes, sweats and chills that keep me up at night. What is wrong with me? Surely not just menapause.....

Welcome to my world where "my inner child plays with matches" all too often.

If your doc won't give you any HRT, or if you wish to avoid exogenous hormones, you might try Estroven, which, according to my doc, and my small random survey at the pharmacy of women buying it, has some palliative effects. I started it three days ago, and have noticed no startling change yet, but the box says you may not have full benefits until you have taken it for a month.

Get a small quiet fan and situate it beside your bed. Put a wet washrag on a small plastic plate next to your bed. Drink plenty of water. Get out and exercise, really good hard exercise that makes you sweat.

Insomnia is just part of menopause. I don't fret about it, as lost sleep does not seem to translate into daytime sleepiness, but I do go to bed about 8 or 9, then wake up and spend several hours awake in the middle of the night. Kind of a "reverse siesta" thing.

You can always pray for an early winter. Other, less likely options: find a job where you have to go in and out a walk-in refrigerator. Buy one of those battery operated hand held personal fans. I have seen them with a small water spray bottle attached.

Hang in there. There are lots of us out there also.

Hot flashes are the classic sign of menopause, as well as the most common reason for seeking treatment. A hot flash produces a sudden sensation of warmth or even intense heat that spreads over various parts of the body, especially the chest, face, and head. Flushing and sweating usually occur as well, followed by a chill. Some women feel their heart beating very fast or hard and feel anxious.

Well welcome to the 50's. It sure sound like menopause to us. My wife and I. We are going through the same thing now. Well she is but it effects me too. She has gone to the doctor for her hormones. We are concerned about the risks of the hormones on her body and have been also trying other homopathic herbs. But for her we had ot come back to the hormones therapy. She is nearly passed the hot flashes now. But when she gets them she can warm up the sheets that is for sure.

Well go to the doctors ASAP and get some help. Good Luck

It could be just menopause. Different women suffer night sweats, hot flashes and chills to varying degrees. I would certainly talk to your gynecologist about your symptoms.

These are the exact same things that most women undergo during menopause. You should consider going to your Gynaecologist who can decide if you should go no Hormone replacemet therapy.
