You are sadly misinformed. Lebanon allowed Hezbollah to grow within its borders. Hezbollah not only kidnapped Israelis but launched rockets directly into civilian areas with the intent to kill. In fact, the leader of Hezbollah has clearly stated that his objective is to kill all Jews. Real nice friendly group, no?
Hezbollah also evacuated all its families from the danger zone. Hezbollah violated international laws by storing its arsenal directly in civilian neighborhoods. Hezbollah doesn't care at all for Lebanese citizens. It uses them as shields.
There is a hospital in Lebanon that is supported 100% by American taxpayer dollars. Yet, Hezbollah hung their flags on the hospital, and the people have been duped into thinking that Hezbollah is supporting the hospital financially. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Left alone, Israel would never attack. They've always been provoked. The opposite is true for Muslims.

I have often wondered why the U.S. is such a staunch supporter of Israel. I think there are probably many reasons . . . as a guess, I'd say because we were part of the superpowers who formed Israel after World War II, and as such, we feel we have a stake in what happens to them. Also, its important politically and in a military sense for the U.S. to have an ally in the Middle East - Israel fills that roll for us, allowing us to use them to launch military efforts in the region. Since the U.S. is primarily a Judeo-Christian society, and the Christian Right do seem to have a lot of power right now in this country, what is said above about the belief that Christians should support the Jewish people is likely also a contributing factor. I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons that I'm unaware of - financial, political, etc.
Despite that, I know that many of us are very, very dissatisfied with the U.S. government's continued unilateral support of Israel - we don't all blindly agree with what the Israeli government chooses to do, just so you know.

Israel would probably be very happy to stay behind it's borders and leave well enough alone, if rockets and suicide bombers weren't streaming across it's borders all the time.
The US supports Israel because it it a soverign state attempting to protect its very survival, and the terrorsists are merely disgruntled non-nation status groups <(read violent international gangs).
The whole region is fighting a continuous grudge match about things that happened THOUSANDS of years before any one alive now was born. They have 21 st Century technology and 6th Century minds.

What IS your question? Israel has faced more terrorism than anyone, and we have the most to learn from them. Furthermore, they are a little piece of earth given to an oppressed people in the middle of terror-supporting countries who hate them. I wouldn't call it special treatment... I would call it backup.

I think it is becuase it is one of the few countries, that actually has the backbone to take military action against these terrorists. Other countries have bombs going off, but wont committ troops to a multinational force for Lebanon.
It's smart for the US to back Israel, becuase I dont think most US citizens would back a government decision to take out military into Lebanon or Iran. Israel could, and all the US would have to do is stand by, and hand them money and weapons, without having to send our own troops.

Just how do we know it is a fight for terrorism? Don't you ever think it was a new but great slogan to use the word terrorism to have things the way we want? It's all about slogans, and using it as an excuse to do what we want want without any hesitations from people who can think for themselves.

They have a representative government allowing citizen input in their governance. They do not attack their neighbors unprovoked. They defend themselves when attacked. They want to live and let live. They give land concessions in an effort to have peace, at the cost of removing their own citizens from their property. Their religion does not advocate unconditional extermination of anyone who disagrees with them. How many reasons do you need??? Sounds kinda like a good system we might like to support.....

Because a lot of the reason why it exists and is causing problems is our fault. We helped to make the decision to put a bunch of Jews in the middle of a Muslim stronghold, and now we have to help take care of it.
