so much hate and discrimination revolve around this? why?

People need an identifiable difference in order to discrimate and the skin color is the most visible thing for people. But even if there was no skin color there would still be discrimination based on the way people dress, class and money. I guess it is a dark side of human nature.

Because people put themsleves in groups. They don't wanna be discriminated against but they discriminate amongst themsleves. The government doesnt help either. The laws say " well if one person of one color kills a person of another color its a hate crime!" Well.. ALL crimes are commitied out of hate! Doesn't matter what skin color. If two whites kill each other its becasue they had some beef with each other, but its not a hate crime! The law should not be twisited because of color, but they should have the same punishment for everyone no matter what color.

To me it skin color doesnt matter but in this world there are a lot of small minded people who like they say judge a book by its cover!!! There are good white people and bad white people just as their is in the black raise and the spanish raise and so on and so forth!!!! Sometimes people dont know no better then to discriminate cause the way they migth have been brougth up believing!!! Some people feed their children lies and plant that seed of hate in them like oh those white people made us slaves or oh black people are all criminals!!!! I still have to deal with racial issues still today!! we need to do something to try and change these small minded people!!! So myself along side a couple of friends plan on starting a We Care program that deals with a lot of different issues!!!

Well skin color means a lot related to a culture or races exposure to the sun. If you will notice no dark skinned cultures or races started in Sweden.
the reason people are discriminated or hated for physical characteristic is very, very simple. Many people, in order to feel beter about them selves have to put other people down.
Think about it! You feel ugly, stupid, poor, etc negative about your self. If you discriminate or hate based on a physical charastic you can have hundreds of people to discriminste against. That should really booste your ego!

well, hate to tell you this but...#1. look at the population of the jails.
And what (color)would the percentage be?
#2.Look at the "troubled areas" of your own community. Would that be in the high rise condos or homeowners of mostly whites? or #3. Could it maybe...be downtown in the poorer section of the crime-laded areas of.......darker people of skin? And now we have the Muslims to concern ourselves with? Is he/she a good one or a bad one! I'll lived long enough to finally start getting paranoid like you poor kids are growing up with. I really feel for you. We never had this in the 60's-70's.
But I only call it as I see it. You want to change it??? It can start with you! Make a difference!

it matters to those that feel somehow threatened by the color of the skin of others, perhaps because deep in their minds they are afraid of not being "as good as...." when we start comparing ourselves to others in terms of who is better and who is worst, then racism shoes up. In this earth, so full of people as it is, no one is above anybody, when you start thinking you are better than someone on something, you stop considering how is that other person better than you in several other ways. We all have our virtues and our flat sides. There are some that do not accept the fact that we ALL are human beings, and that is all that matters, same species. It is hatred what makes it al f***** up.

It is one of many dying out prejudices. Things will change rapidly if people of various colors learn to love the beauty of multiculture, interracial marriage, international peace...All geographical barriers have been removed gradually, now we should concentrate on removing our spiritual barriers by enhancing our universal education.
I think that a forum like this Yaahoo Answres is really good; a stupid yellow man like me can converse with any men of all races on earth with no trace of fear or discrimination.

Most people need a reason to hate. Skin color is the most obvious but people hate over religion and even languages. African-american will even make a difference over who´s lighter and who´s darker... Jew jailers served in concentration camps to torture and assassinate their own. Beautiful isn´t it?

Ignorance and fear. Ignorance that they know little if anything about what they hate. Fear of a people and custom they don't understand. It's all perpetuated by each successive generation out of the same ignorance and fear. Hopefully one day someone will rise above it all with the courage and knowledge to end it all! With the wisdom to know how!

Because it's too easy to blame the ills on society of color, religion, race and sexuality. People need to look inward for answers instead of blaming a certain race or creed of a people.
