I don't think there is a right way to do that. Just do it, and get it over with.

No, is there a good way to break someone's heart? Is there a good way to tell someone what they once thought would last a lifetime has reached its expiration? No, there isn't, so with that said be kind and use the love that started your relationship to guide you and hold her, I'm going through something like that, by my choice and I want nothing more than to hold him and say I'm so sorry but don't know how. Make sure it's REALLY what you want, or whats BEST for both of you. I wish you all the luck in the world and your in my prayers.

What went wrong. Why the change of heart.
What do you see now that you didn't see way back when.
Girls gotta stop looking at Cars and Jobs and how Cute he is
Guys gotta stop looking at T and A and how much bootie they get.

Just tell the other party involved that things aren't what they used to be and you want a divorce. I personally like the direct approach.

Usually by "divorce time", the other person is halfway, if not fully, expecting it. You could start with a speech like, "You know we haven't been getting along well now for the last five years..." or something like that.

I haven't done it but, I'd say, "I need to talk to you. You must have noticed things haven't been good between us for a long time... I want a divorce and here's why...
Sorry, it's the best I can do right now.

The best way is to approach the situation rationally and respectfully; be honest, say the things that need to be said and give the other person the time to do that also.

Ya, after a year of couple's counseling, if you still feel the same, tell him/ her at a session, so there is a professional there to help control the situation.
