If there was glass on the floor, would you hear footsteps more clearly? I don't know if this has anything to do with physics, but is it possible?

I meant sound wise.

No, you will not hear the sound of the footstep but you will hear the chattering sound of the glass breaking. The will not hear any sound unless you are brave enough to wake barefooted("footsteps"). And mostly the foot will not make contact with the floor, because the glass will prevent it form doing so.

if the glass was broken up, yes, you'd hear the crack as the glass broke into even smaller bits. if you're talking about solid glass as compared to carpet, yes. carpet softens the impact of footsteps, cutting back on the impulse acting on your foot and hence the vibrations eminating from your steps. glass would not do this and so the fully impact of vibration would reverberate through the glass sheet, probably causing a good echo at the same time. same with compared to wood, wood muffles sound rather well, compared to a sheet of glass.
