cynical, bitter, sarcastic, mean spirited, hard edged,unlikable, nasty, ugly...is that enough? The part that Sean Bean plays in LotR is cynical as is Karen on "Will and Grace" or Malfoy's father in HARRY POTTER...all these characters exhibit cynical qualities...one might argue that Darth Vader is cynical taken to the extreme...

probably pessimism in general, as opposed to the literal meaning of believing in the worst of everything
