I have not sent the draft to any publisher. However it has been read by several of my family members and a host of close friends. All of them agree that it is a fantastic story and that I should try to find a publisher. However, I am savvy enough to know that publishers have their "favorites." I also know that it might take years to find even one who might be willing to "take a chance", since many of them do not even LOOK at unsolicited manuscripts.
But I am NOT savvy enough to know the answer to the following,
so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I want to know if there is any way I can publish at least PARTS of
the book on-line, and if so, how do I go about it? (I am new to the use of a computer and the use of the internet)
I want to publicize just enough information about the case to see how much interest I can generate given the subject matter.
I am looking for any and all ideas. Thank you for your anticipated input. It would be greatly appreciated

i carnt say that i know a website that will let you publish the book or even parts of it on line, however i think you shoul ask a publisher for their advice on the book and whether they think it is any good to publish... then i think you should start up your own website and publish the book online or even just parts of it.. from what you have said i think the book sounds really interesting and i would be interested in reading it if you publish it or put it online. i am sorry i couldntbemore help but i hope you like hearing of what i had to say.. Good Luck with everything.

Well already I am having a problem with your question because you sound so sincere it is hard to believe you can't move on it..
1. If you solved a famous murder case...you are already established as a story teller of sorts, right?.
2. If it is famous...have others written about it? You should have had honorable mention giving you credence concerning it, No?.
3. If is is so famous...how come Dominick Dunne is not in on it?.
4. Many of the books I have read...had a short story done in Vanity Fair or something like that (after publication of course).
5. What great book writer can review it , given an opinion and advise you what to do .
6. What about the talking heads? Nancy Grace, Grete Van S.
Mark Furmon.?? Worth a try... I am sure they have agents.
7. Any local college English profs to critique it for you?.
8. Family critiques are of course laudatory...you want a pro here.
9. Will the local newspapers help, pulblishign excerpts? I mean if you solved the case you should be worthy of somehting in the Books Section of the Sunday paper about your search for a publisher, no?
Personnally, if it is that good and that famous and you are the one who solved it...you should have some pull here. I would write to Vanity Fair first....you might not get it published now but their advice will be invaluable. Keep plugging as some books just take longer than other. Wish I knew who was murdered and who done it.. Good Luck.

I realize you just want to generate interest in your writing, have you tried using a search engine such as google under short stories or something, or you could search through on-line magazines. I know regular magazines will sometimes publish part of a story. You may check to see if Readers Digest has anything on-line. They usually publish a lot of partial stories in their books.

Seems sending one copy to local DA with note you sent copy to publisher, and brief synopsis of your findings would spark DA's interest. Sending one copy to Publisher with note you sent copy to DA might get you small advance for rights. Two or three days ago person ask question about publishing on line see if it's still around by entering question in search answers offers. It was to complicated for me.
