I can't remember whether or not CANS of beer were permited in addition to bottles.

I know that you are allowed to drink while walking along the strip, but I am unclear as to the type of container you can use. I know that it is permited in bottles.

But, can you also drink "cans" of beer while walking along the strip like you could with a bottle?

You are allowed to walk the strip while drinking a beer, except it cannot be glass. It must be either a plastic bottle or can. Also, dont conceal a beer like in a brown paper bag, cops will ask you to pour it out and throw it away. As far as margaritas or any mix drinks just make sure their in a plastic souvenir bottle that you can buy pretty much at every casino. Also just be able to control your liquor, cops wont hesitate to arrest you right on the spot. Hope this helps.

Jesser is not completely correct. Where I live, during the summer, walking around with a beer in a plastic container is permitted. I am sure my city isn't the only one, either.

As for Vegas, I do recall walking from casino to casino with a margarita and it being OK. But possibly, I could have been walking on walkways rather than city streets.

Last I knew, it was no glass containers, but I could be wrong. BUT, if glass bottles are allowed, why wouldn't cans be?

The only restriction is - no open booze in any vehicle - cab, limo, or otherwise. The only exception to this is those big private party buses.

That's a restriction anywhere in the US as far as I know. Intoxicated in public is an arrestable offense, though public does not apply to being in a bar/pub, casino/hotel lobby.... mostly just the streets.

anywhere in vegas is fine to have alcohol, in cans or bottles.
however, you can still be ticketed for public drunkeness, if you are too intoxicated
