Yes, it's normal when you have excessive ear wax build up.
Have a doctor clean your ears. Mean while you might use a little olive oil on a bit of cotton to put into your ear - do not use a swab or anything on a stick - just a little ball of cotton that you can easily remove with your fingers. This could soften the wax and stop the noise.

DO NOT USE Q-TIPS!!!! It will only pack the wax in your canal which will eventually cause more problems. You should go to your doctor and have your wax removed.
Ear candling is a hoax and won't help at all.
If you are hearing crackling it could be any number of problems.
A. your wax could be moving around
B. you could have a small bug in your ear flapping its wings(i've actually seen this)
C. you could have Eustation Tube dysfunction which is causing a crackling noise when it opens and closes.
you should see a doctor soon just incase something serious is wrong with you.
Do not try to remove the wax on yoru own you could perforate yoru ear drum.

you can buy otc treatments for excessive ear wax. i had that problem once and the otc med worked great. the crackling might just be the wax sticking to your ear canal when you open your mouth. in order to relieve pressure in the ear you can open your mouth and exit the pressure through the eustacian tube (connects ear to mouth). since you open your mouth all the time when breathing, yawning, talking you might hear that sound all the time.
the otc is in a dropper bottle. you put a few drops in every night then turn over and let it drain. i cleaned my ear with a q-tip after and that helped get some of the excess wax out. it's probably just a mild ear infection. but if the otc doesn't work after a week or so go see a doctor.

I have it also and have excess oil and fluid that builds up and I get earaches really bad. I was ckd a few mo ago and have started losing my hearing in my right ear more and it is the one that hurts the most.Sometimes it feels great to have your ears cleaned by the dr.He will get rid of the wax which may be the cause of the sounds. The wax is either causing the sounds or interrupting the natural hearing process and the sounds are coming from it.Best wishes and don't wait as long as I did to get your ears ckd out!

When ever I fly or have that cracking sound in my ears, I use hydergen peroxide. Just have someone pour a teaspoon right into your ear. It will tickle for a minute, then you just turn to let it out. It melts the wax and no more problems.

when I was a kid and getting a bad ear infection!
Use Afrin nose spray, put a low heat pad on your pillow and drain it on out. The nose spray is an old Austin doctors cure for ear infections. Don't abuse it, stop after three days and use only as directed.
