Here's something I don't understand. People say the Confederate flag is racist, even though it never flew over any slave ship.
But ok...let's say it IS racist. Isn't the American flag racist too? Because it DID fly over slave ships AND it was our flag for over fifty years of slave-owning states!!
I'm not trying to provoke anyone. This is a genuine question.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!1 Finally somebody that can see both sides of the big picture. They say the Civil War was fought over slavery but it was not, slavery was thrown in at the end for political reasons. The flag is NOT racist it is heritage. My ancestors fought for what they believe was right. They come to America believing it was a free country. But the North was trying to tell them how to live what they could and couldn't do.Where is the freedom in that?

It's not racist or a symbol of white supremecy or any other kind of **** like that, it was the national ensign of the short lived confederate states of america. People have attached other meanings to it out of ignorance. When it's all said and done, all that flag represents is a part of American history.

If the Confederate flag has nothing to do with slavery or blacks, can you explain why the KKK chose it as their symbol? Did they just like the colors or the design?

The Confederate flag is considered racist because it represented the Confederate states. They supported slavery unlike the Union. That flag stands for everything that the Confederacy stood for, including black people as slaves--racist by today's standards of course. The United States flag is not racist because it represents are country as a whole...not singling any race or ethnicity out.

some see the confederate flag as a symbolism of fighting to keep slavery.
personaly, i see it as heritage. its just a flag. symbols mean nothing if you look outside the box. just like color. color of people means nothing if you just look inside their heart and not their color.
