No No No.. It comes from the term Extra terrestrial. Over time, instead of using the correct abbreviation which is E.T, we got used to X. thats why they named it the X Factor. Meaning Extra Terrestrial Factor.

If you are talking about the X Factor in human abilities, like when a guy needs to do nothing or say nothing & every woman in the room would be naturally attracted to him, the same applies.. the Extra Terrestrial Factor!

We use this term to explain the unexplainable.

i actually know the answer. the letter x is used for unnamed things e.g. planet x. so the x factor is a factor a person has which is so unique it hasn't got a name. it means you've got something no one else has

It probably means extreme.

I could also mean Christ.
X is also refered to the mystery spot. As in X marks the spot. Here X refers to x on maps for gold

Well, if you think about it in mathematical terms... "X" would be the variable. I am not sure if this is how the phrase came about, but it sounds good, doesn't it. :)
