lol, the main thing is to run. Get up early in the morning, run a few miles, after school, do some interval training, some hill work. It also helps to add cycling to your training schedule also. I'm not on cc anymore, I do track and plan to start mtb racing now, but I still like to run lotsa miles, especially when im frustrated, its good thinking time, and good anger management.

peace.

During the season, just maintain a positive attitude. Noone wants to deal with your sour grapes while running a hard workout. So be positive and try hard, that's being a good teammate.

Setting goals are always good too. Some people on your team may have the goal of qualifying for state, some may just want to finish a race without walking. Figure out a long term goal and several short term goals. those will help you.

If you enjoy the sport and decide you want to be a competitive runner next year (not saying you won't be this year, but if you want to reach your full potential), remember that XC seasons are often won in the summer. Summer training is the most important and most overlooked aspect of HS XC.

Good luck

Have fun and try hard. This is my first year too, and i love it. If you haven't already, make sure you're familiar with the course. ..i already got lost a few times. : ) be assertive at the beginning, and if your races have funnels at the end, don't be afraid to sprint.
