Water isn't the true enemy. It is minerals or salts in the water that would cause a short across traces. But like stated if you let it sit few days minimum the longer the safer. BTW it won't fry your computer just the USB ports.

Oh my, I've done this so many times I can't even count. USB drives, SD cards, compact flash... I've washed the lot.

The good news is that they generally work perfectly well after a good wash.

You should put the flashdrive somewhere warm for about 24 hours to make sure it's completely dry, and then it should be okay to plug into your computer. I'd suggest plugging it into a USB hub (if you've got one) rather than directly into the PC, just in case it's still a little damp.

It won't fry your computer if the part thats going in is dry. But i think ur flash drive might be screwed though. I would let it sit overnight on a paper towel

Flash drives are solid state(no moving parts) plug it in and see if it works, it should. But if it was impacted badly in the spin cycle it may well be stuffed, but the only way you'll find out is if you plug it in but to remove the chance of electrocution use the safely remove hardware icon in the taskbar.

Take it apart, IF it has screws, or if you can safely pry it apart without damaging it. THEN you take a hair dryer and dry it out. DON'T use the HOT heat setting. Use warm. It should cause any water still in there to evaporate, making the drive usable in your computer again.

Good luck!

Let it sit out for at least 4 or 5 days to make sure it's dry inside

My USB drive has been throught the washer (and dryer) several times and has been absolutely fine each time. I would wait several days (3-4) before I tried to use it again.

Water shouldn't do any harm. Go ahead an plug it in and check it out. Chances are it will work fine.
