anybody who knows what underlying technology is compiler?/ thanks

It is under computer programming of course. A compiler is a tool used by programmers to turn computer instructions into compiled executable programs. There are compilers for various languages including C/C++/C#, .Net, Java, VB, etc.

It is not a particular field of study or anything. It is just a software tool.

Parsing theory, LALR parsers, it helps to understand finite-state macihines, and there's some group theory involved as well
