A nanny, depending on the level of experience she has and how many hours per day she's there, can cost anywhere from $400 - $1,000 per week. This is in Michigan though--not sure of the rates for the SE U.S. Call a nanny service in your phone book and ask.

It all depends on where you live and what you're willing to pay for. Regular daycare for an infant runs between $165 - $300 / week, and that's for 4 infants, so I would expect that you would pay abour $400 - $500 per week for a good worker - maybe you can get them to do some light housekeeping, since an infant is usually asleep most of the time.

do you mean financial cost or long term cost??
financial cost would depend where you live - AFrica?? Australia?? Arctic??
long term cost - failure for infant to bond
slighly lower mental development because some child minders just watch TV and dont interact with the kid
attention deficit disorder
will call other people "mom"
long term resentment
difficulty in relationships later on
etc.. it goes on and on...
you can reduce the long term costs by returning to work only part time - or working shifts opposite to what the dad works so one parent is always home...
or by cutting expenses, like internet, cable, dinners out, new car, coffees out
why have kids if you cannot raise them properly???

get a nanny cam. If it was me, I would charge $350 a week, with a 52 week contract, two weeks vacation plus paid days off when you are on vacation,
