You will not get into UCLA, Stanford, NYU or columbia with those SAT scores =(. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:
http://www.guideparadise.com/index.php?option=com_guides&task=buy&id=6
I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.

Gosh, people do you not realize that now the SAT has 2400 points possible among the 3 sections?
Also, I'm not sure if a 4.12 is any good or not. My county can give a 5.5 for an A+ in an honors or AP class. Figure out what your unweighted GPA (on the 4-point scale) is and post it here. Then we'll be able to tell you more.
UCLA and NYU might be options (as reach schools only because of the SATs), but I don't think the SAT score would be good enough for Stanford or Columbia. Also, know that you SAT subject test scores, your essay, and your extracurriculars would also play big parts in your application if you want to go to Ivy League schools or other very difficult ones (like Amherst, Pomona, Stanford, etc).
Make sure to keep up your work in the AP classes, and you might send your AP score report to colleges. If the report is really good, like with all 4s and 5s, it might help you make up for the SAT score or add something good to your application. Just contact the university before doing it to see if they would accept the score report in the process. Otherwise it would be a waste of $15.00 per college (every college not considering the report in the process).
Also, you can retake the SATs after studying more. Try to get a 2000 or so.

Kate:
The maximum possible score on the SATs is 2400, so shut it.
ihatephilcolwhatever & whoever else bashing on this question:
Maybe you should try harder in life. A 4.12 GPA isn't that difficult to achieve if you had actually got off your *** and stopped answering questions on Yahoo! like you actually knew what you were talking about.
To the OP:
You can get to a lot of great universities with your GPA and impressive amount of AP classes; the universities love that. Your SAT score, however, is dragging you down a bit. I recommend you take the SATs as many times in order to maximize your test -taking skill and score at the same time. You can definitely get into UCLA if you did more than an 1850. Good luck with your next SAT!

In all certainty, IQ, SAT and GPA do no longer do as lots for you as a lot of human beings think of. GPA and SAT scores would assist you to get right into a needed college, yet this manner of faculty you circulate to would not consistently define how stable of a scientist you're. IQ's are generally a reliable indicator of tutorial overall performance, yet no longer consistently. some human beings have very extreme IQ's yet warfare with specific academics. If I have been you, i would not problem. college is in simple terms the 1st 4 years of your education. To be a Neuroscientist you will ought to circulate onto graduate college. Your first 4 years of education will make little impression. certainly, your graduate college overall performance would be of better value. @toddler: An IQ of 185 isn't impossible. My fiance has an IQ over 2 hundred, and that's in accordance to Mensa tests. There are lots human beings interior the international who've extreme IQ's. .a million% of the inhabitants looks small, whether it surely comes out to be a reasonably great variety. Thats tens of millions and 1000's of individuals interior the united states of a that have an IQ greater than that.....

I think many schools will respect your hard work, but the 1700 SAT might keep you out of some prestigious schools. Try retaking the SAT and aim for a score over 2000. Also, extracurriculars are a big deal for schools like the ones you listed. The SAT is not everything, but I think your SAT should be a bit higher to reflect your GPA, otherwise schools will just assume your GPA was because of taking a lot of weighted courses.

I'm guessing you took the new version of the SAT. With a weighed GPA (not out of 4.0) you can pretty much get into any school you want. You have figure out what you want. If you want Stanford, NYU, Columbia, and other Ivy League schools, then that's very possible. Don't forget, a good interview, application essay, and extra-curricular activities are important along with good GPA and test scores.

Retake your SATs. In the 1600 max SATs I went from a 1200 to a 1320 (avg 660 per section) and couldn't get into Wake Forest Univ. I had similar classes but my only extra curric. activity was Baseball for 4 years. With a 560 avg on three sections, you're limiting yourself to State Schools and lesser private schools. I would strongly suggest retaking the SATs because (unless your filthy rich or dirt poor) you're going to want the scholarship money that private schools will give you for higher scores.

unlike the other answer ridiculing ur 1700 score, i hope u mean on the new SAT which is out of 2400, so that is an average score of 1700/3 so average less than 600 per section. then that is not so hot of a score good thing ur gpa is high but with that balance a good state school in ur state will be good for u. good luck!

Well, you won't get into any schools with a 1700 SAT, because they'll all know you are lying on your application when you say you are doing all those other things.
I take that back... you could get into Bullcrap University. (The highest possible score on the SAT is 1600.)
