Get some sturdy rubber gloves.
Get some bleach.
Use a rag to soak in the bleach and wipe the entire inside of the cooler with the bleach and rag. Be careful not to splash any on yourself or it will burn like fire. It puts holes in clothes too!!
You have to kill all of the mold, and all of the spores it leaves behind.
Rinse thoroughly with clear water and make certain it is completely dry before you close it. I set mine out on a table in the sunshine to dry. That helps kill any mold I might have missed.

That should do it. I had mold problems till my dad put me onto this treatment.

After you wash it out with a combination of water & baking soda -- dry it thoroughly. Then place a few sheets of crumpled up newspaper inside while it is in storage. The paper will absorb any moisture in the air & your cooler will stay mold-free until you use it again.

You mean ice chest? After use, completely clean and wipe dry. Prop the lid open for about a week until you are sure everything is bone dry. Throw a big paper grocery bag in it, close it up & store. Check it in a month or so to see if still ok inside.

Wash it out, dry it and put a couple of lumps of charcoal in it. Or you can do what I do and Always keep it full of Cold Beer and ice. We never have mold in our cooler.

If there is moisture in it dry some kind of drying agent. There's something called Dry Rid or something like that. I don't know if something like could be used in a cooler. Look on the laundry aisle.

do not leave water in the cooler without ice, ambient temperature water will cause mold to grow.

You are going to have to let it thaw out and clean it out with bleach water. It also sounds like you aren't turning your temp up enough. Mold cannot grow in frozen places.

Use bleach. Baking soda and water does nothing to mildew. You have to kill it and it is done with bleach.

You have to probably soak it to kill it all.

I would also find out why you have mildew. The cooler may have a seal leak that is leaking in warm air. It then condenses and leaves it wet to form mildew.

The easy way, just leave the lid open. Or you need to find something which will absorb the moisture inside - Like dry sand
