Hi there...depending on what you would like to do there's a bunch of apps available including shareware and freeware.
For professional graphics: Adobe Creative Suite 2;
pro movie editing: Final Cut Pro,
office productivity: Microsoft Office 2004 are some to consider.
Then there's some inexpensive shareware available at: http://www.macshare.com/
Freeware:
http://www.freemacware.com/
http://mac.sofotex.com/freeware.html
If you type in a search for mac shareware or freeware there's more links available too.

Hello egghead10309,
What are you into? Do you like graphics, games, video, Internet stuff or maybe music?
I would recommend you getting involved with a local Mac Users Group. There, you will meet many enthusiastic people who would be able to help you with what ever you might want to explore with your new iMac.
Also, you can download some free stuff at:
http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/
... or from the Mother Ship:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/
Best of luck to you.
