You may be suffering from sleep apnea, which is a potentially life-threatening disorder. You need to go see a doctor or medical facility that specializes in sleep disorders, go now!

It sounds like sleep apnea to me as well, my advice will follow suit, stop asking health advice on here and see your doctor. If you wake up in the middle of the night feeling like you've run a marathon, the situation is reaching an urgent stage. Make an appointment IMMEDIATELY, a doctor can diagnose and treat you very quickly and provide a prescription to stop your breathing problems. Good luck to you :-)

Sounds as if you have a condition know as Sleep Althea or Apthea - I am not sure of the spelling. But it is something that you need to see a doctor about as it can be very serious.
