What is difference between emo and gothic and everything. what are the kind of standards... i always hear, but i want a clear defenition...

Emo is a sub movement characterized by emotional music (like My Chemical Romance, Alkaline Trio, From First to last etc). This music appeals to the listeners sensitive side, and encourages indulging in self pity. Its very upsetting when there are rich white American kids crying because of their misfortune. Emo kids can be quickly spotted. Dark colored tight pants and shirts with (often obscure) band references on them and hair covering or coming low on one eye (sometimes two,) with one streak or flare of bleached hair.
Goth kids on the other hand wear even more black, paint their nails (and lips if their hardcore) black and like to wear spikes and studded bands. They're still keeping the big complicated scary pants thing alive. Their music is hard, not soft and sensitive like emo. There are two main genres industrial (like Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Advent Sleep and All Living Fear) and metal, especially black (gothic) metal (like Cannibal Corpse, Garden of Delight and Fields of Nephilim.)
Instead of being tortured by society, they feel like their being tortured by god. They don't cry as much as the emos but there are still usually strong emotional connections between peers. Instead of just lamenting all the time (emo) they hate and express a strong dislike of certain people and those that aggravate them.
They might engage in S&M (cutting, scratching, biting, etc), and/or bondage during sexual activity.
But the two are alike in a strong way. They both want to seperate themselves from society as much as is socially acceptable and though there are extreme cases in gothic style, its usually just a way for teens to express their independance. These kind of music led "outcast groups" will alwayse exsist so long as there is a large perceived difference in the styles and attitudes of previous generations.

I think Emo is Emotional Dysfunction or Emotional Wreak.

Gothic is well vampires is disguise
Gothic -like to sleep in coffins...
I guess some how they are related.....

emo means a lot of crying and uselly cutting is involed but there is not always cutting but alot of crying and sometimes thoughts of suicide(thats me) gothic is a look and mainly no emontions at all or very little showing of emontion lack of instends and not alot of crying goths uselly hate preps,emos,and everything else in the world

emo - they usualy like to talk bout death and bleeding and stuff
but gothic is just wearing black and stuff..
but im not trying to lable so anyone dont take it in an offensive way

they both wear black and stuff but emos have really low self esteem and depressed while goths i guess is more like having a creepy kind of like religionish thing
