it kind of depends but Common signs and symptoms of yeast infections include:
itching and irritation in the vagina
redness, swelling, or itching of the vulva (the folds of skin outside the vagina)
a thick, white discharge that can look like cottage cheese and is usually odorless, although it might smell like bread or yeast
pain or burning when urinating

Was that a typo? I think you are asking about a Yeast Infection right? Well, it is very common in women especially at your age as your hormones are still going hay wire. Anyhow, you can buy meds at the drug store now a days called Monistat 7. Also, most doctors will encourage you to eat yogurt. This will help from the inside out. By the way, the heat makes it worse. It's best to wear cotton underware. If non of this works, you need to go see a doctor. It could be something worse.

an easy way to get rid of it without going to a pharmacy or having to let anyone know is to buy some pure, natural, unflavoured yogurt, make sure it is completely natural, dip a tampon into it and insert as normal. Sounds weird but it does work! The bacteria in the yogurt gets rid of the yeast infection (or something like that) and it won't harm you. I read it in cosmopolitan years ago and if the infection is not too bad, it works. Remember though, these infections are very normal and very common. There is nothing major about having one and you will find that there are many easy pharmaceutical ways to treat it quickly and easily also. Most women deal with it regularly throughout life. good luck

how can you tell that your crotch rot is really a yeast infection and not something else? most medical types say that you should go to a doctor to get it diagnosed the first time, and then once you know what you're looking for, you can figure it out yourself the next time and respond appropriately. i used to blow this off as a bunch of MDs protecting their turf and their profits, but more and more evidence is accumulating that wimmin often misdiagnose themselves as having a yeast infections when they really have something else. this is bad because you might have a more serious problem that isn't getting treated while you futz around with yeast treatments. just as bad, if you use an over-the-counter treatment for yeast and you don't really have yeast infection, you might be creating your own personal race of drug-resistant super-yeast, and next time you have a real yeast infection it could be damned hard to get rid of.
a doctor can tell for sure if you have a yeast infection by taking a swab and looking in a microscope. most of us can't do this at home, but sometimes you can tell by the feel, look, and smell that you have a yeast infection. if your symptoms don't match this list, or you are confused or uncertain, go see a doctor if at all possible.
feels like an intense itching, burning sensation, localized in your vagina and vulva. this itching is not always present, but can get really bad, so bad you can hardly walk, let alone ride your bike to the pharmacy or doctor to get it treated.
looks like clumpy nasty white stuff. most medical descriptions compare the discharge to ricotta cheese, but it can range from thick and not clumpy to faintly yellow to thin and clear.
smells like bread or beer. in fact, it smells pretty much exactly like yeast, although the yeast used in brewing and baking is an entirely different species (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). no bacteria could smell like that, so it's a great diagnostic.
finally, in response to a recent question, i point out that a yeast infection will NOT cause you to miss your period.

burning itching and a clear or whitish discharge, you can buy over the counter medication for it. If you are sexually active then it could be an STD so if the medication does not work, or you have other symptoms like fever abdominal pain, a Strong vaginal odor, or green/yellow discharge, you should see your doctor, that doesn't mean that it is a STD but you should go to the doctor to rule it out.

Crazy itching/burning, vaginal discharge (looks different from your regular discharge) and a weird, bad smell. Since it seems like this is your first yeast infection, you should still go to the dr anyway just to be sure - but after you've had one, you always know, and you can treat it yourself. Personally I recommend Monistat, for me it works better than Canestan.

If you've never had a yeast infection before, SEE YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU TREAT! Other kinds of infections can seem like yeast, but cannot be treated over the counter. Mis-treating your symptoms may damaged your vaginal flora.

burning, itching, painful urination, discharge that has a fishy smell to it. If you think you have one, get confirmation first from the doc and them they can give you some medication for it.
