the same number of years to be a doctor which is 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school after that you take up a specialty as a doctor which would be neurosurgery i think it takes some more years of training to be certified.

med school w/ neurology focus. try shadowing a neurologist, I did in high school and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
