They found that many felons met their wives from other countries that way some beat them severely or even murdered them. I think there has got to be a better way for those women to meet a man that is safer.

I think desperate men use it and the women use it because they want a better life. The women are looking for citizenship and money and I think that the percentage of women and men that actually fall in love and stay in love in a mail order bride situation is probably very small.
As long as both parties know what they are getting themselves into I guess it's their choice to do it or not. If a woman is in a bad situation/poor country and really wants to get out, she knows the risks she is taking by becoming a mail order bride. I don't think I would ever do it, but as long as everyone is well informed of whats going on and the woman understands what is going on, I don't see a problem with it.

I can honestly say that I have looked into getting a mail order bride once (hey, some of the best things are imported!!!! LOL). You have to be careful. Some of them are only seeking this alternative because it is a quick and easy way to become a US citizen. Some are truly looking for love. I've known people who have had both good and bad circumstances from the whole mail order bride thing.

I never went with the idea of following through with getting a mail order bride because of various reasons. Reasons like, what if they miss their families and want to go back? Will they love me for me or what I have to offer them? Stuff like that.

I see no right or wrong in it. I do see some using it for the wrong reasons and some who use it for the right reasons. It is their choice and they will have to live with the consequences of it.

I actually have a friend who is a mail order bride. She is a very beautiful Russian women, who has been married to her husband for 8 years.they have a child together and he even adopted her son. They really do love each other. She says she loves him for taking her out of her country. I personally would never be able to do that. Sleep w/ a man I don't know or love, but hookers do it all the time, its just not a life sentence.

NEVER. I would never be married to a complete stranger who could be a killer, abuser, or convicted felon. I am sure being used can go both ways but it is the men requesting these marriages and many times the women just are hoping for a better life so are willing to try and hope for the best.

They think any girl would like them becuase of the fact that the guy is American and he has "money." I don't think neither is being used, they both agree to be with one another, no one forces the other in marriage. I just think its preety lame.
