The show started too late this year (June 11), and missed the cut to be included in the 2006 Emmys.
According to Page 4 of the Emmy Rules, to be eligible for consideration the show's premiere had to fall within the eligibility period. The eligibility period ran from June 1, 2005 to May 31, 2006.

This season will be eligible for next year's award show.
Note that Entourage was included in the Emmys last ngiht, but it was being considered on the basis of its 2005 season.
So it wasn't a "snub".

I'm surprised also - especially as the season finale airs in the States tonight. Finale time is usually when the academy goes nuts with giving the awards. Also, it the best show to air for a LONG time. I would have thought that Ian McShane or Timothy Olyphant would have at least been nominated for Best Lead Actor. In my mind, they will be... *sigh*

It came out late and didn't send out tapes the way it did last year. Plus, Rome was such a big success they thought it would dominate and it did. BTW, I love both shows.
