Our baby have been sleeping for almost the whole day everyday, since he came out about a week ago. He is suffering from mild jaundice, and someone said it's due to that. I know baby sleeps most of the time, but is it normal to sleep all the time? He's probably awake for about 2 hours in total for any day. Please advise

Sounds like a very peaceful, happy baby to me. Perfectly normal in my experience and I have had plenty. My three, one who didn't care to sleep much at all but never cried (21 yr old brainiac now)
and daycare babies from six weeks, one at a time for the most part. they slept a lot and were just content. that is all.

My sister's baby is sleeping this much and she was worried, too. The doctors said it was normal and the books say it's normal as well. She took her newborn to have tests run, however, and found that he had abnormally high levels of calcium. Because this isn't something that's usually tested for, the doctors had no idea if there was a correlation to the sleeping or not. But perhaps it's something you want to bring up with your doctor as well. In the end, her (now) two-month-old is fine, although he still sleeps a lot. He's developing normally.

Congratulations! Dont worry it is perfectly normal. Just had my 2nd child 2 weeks ago. They sleep throughout the day while they are newborn. Take advantage of it while it lasts. Get catch up on your rest, your still recovering. They still need to eat every 2 - 3 hours. Wake him up if he doesnt wake up on his own. Don't let him go more than 4 hours without eating. Hope this helps.

This is normal for a baby. think about the ordeal that he just went through. In about a month your going to wish he would sleep a little more.

As long as he is eating and having a fresh diaper every now and again i wouldn't worry.

Good luck and congrats

That's pretty typical for a newborn. Just be sure the baby is eating every 4 hours (on average). In the next few days/weeks your baby will be awake more.

Congrats on your little baby. :)

Totally normal! Mine did that and I was SO afraid that something was wrong, but it's just what they do! I'm sure your baby is fine, but if you are concerned than call his pediatrician. Get on your knees and thank God that you got a baby who loves to sleep and enjoy it while it lasts! :)

Its very common for jaundice to cause your baby to sleep a lot more. They also tend to be sluggish eaters cuz they cant stay awake. But ask your doctor just to be safe.

you probably did each little thing genuine. better than maximum might. Checking scholars for equivalent dialation is super for checking any trauma from a fall. toddler bones are very pliable and it would take an severe volume of tension to interrupt something. toddler might cry. needless to say it truly is a giving. yet while a splash one sees which you're aggravating that would desire to in turn make the toddler experience that and cry. considering toddler cried it is common and proves no loss of expertise. No concerns you probably did super!

Your baby is very normal. I have three and they all slept alot during the day and nights. They do this for a while and then one day you discover that they will sometimes get their days and nights mixed up. Oh my! What fun! But don't worry, he's being little. Enjoy and have fun....
