There is nothing wrong with going shopping with a guy. Some parent's just don't think a guy and a girl can only be friends. Unless you have done something to make your parent's not trust you, you should be allowed to go. Just ask your mom if you can go, tell her that you will call and check in when she wants you to. You will also be home when they want you to be. I am a parent of a three year old, I am 27. I remember being 15 and thinking my parent's didn't know anything. They do and they just love you, hopefully they will trust you and let you go if they don't hang in there maybe 16 will be better. Good Luck!!

You really shouldn't lie to her, only because if anything bad ever happened they wouldn't know the truth of where you were and who you were with. I know you would make the right choices but would someone else do the same? There's some crazy people out there and I think that's what your mother is trying to protect you from. Don't think of it as her not trusting you, it's probably her not trusting the world with you. It's really hard to let your daughters go out there in this big bad world and sometimes it takes little steps to get your parents to let go, just like it will take little steps for you to learn to fly away (the right way!not like running away, that's the easy way out).

could your parents take the two of you shopping and be elsewhere in the mall (or whatever) that way they took you there, and will take you home but are not hovering during your shopping together experience. If you prove to her that you can be trusted a little at a time, she should start to relax her restrictions. Remind her that if she has done a good job raising you you are going to behave properly.

I am a mother, I agree with your mom, it is not advisable to go with a guy early morning hrs. alone. Do the shopping later in day
either sat or sun, when you have time to do. Listen to mom, she always thinks and does the best for you, her child.

with best wishes,

Being a strict parent....and having a 17yr old.....I understand whatya saying! Like I tell my daughter....I trust you, but just know I will call you on your cell at any given moment! I set the rules first, and make sure she knows them, then I let her go to expand her wings!

You said it nothing wrong with going shopping, honesty is the best policy, how can you be trusted if they dont begin to give some space?

You sound nice ,it isn't you ,it is the boys that they don't trust. The best way for them to trust your "friend" is to meet him and develop a trusting relationship with him.
