i read this article online "CVS lagged behind Walgreen's in revenue ($38 billion versus $44 billion) and net income ($1.3 billion versus $1.6 billion) in 2005 despite operating more stores." and I'm interested to know what's the difference.

revenue is all the money made by the company
profit is what is left after expenses are paid.

Higher expense = less profit.

Revenue is the gross amount of money that is taken in. Profit is the net amount left over after all the expenses are paid out of the revenue.

Profit = Total Revenue minus Total Costs

revenue is all money that comes in; profit is what you really make after subtracting your expenses from revenue.

revenue is total sales. net income is after expenses such as realestate, merchandise, insurance and employees.
