Poor ol' Saturn, one of my favorite "heavenly bodies" has recently been officially re-classified as a "dwarf planet".
Sign me, "bummed out Capricorn".
Thanks for the info!

There are probably a few bummed out scorpios out there:)
I'm a little into astrology myself, and I was suprised to see when I got a free bounus chartwheel from astrology.com (it comes with most of their free sample readings) that they include Charon (Pluto's moon, now also a dwarf planet), Juno (is that a moon of Jupiter?), Ceres (what is that?), and Vesta ( a moon of someone?) in a person's natal chart. You know you have a sign for each of the planets, not just your sun sign, right? I'm a capricorn moon. I wonder what my Xena sign will be. It's bigger than Pluto. I wonder if it will appear next on the natal charts. In the zodiac, Pluto has a generational influence because it takes so long to transit the zodiac. OK, I'm just rambling now. If anyone is interested, astrology.com is great for free chartwheels, and llewellyn.com will sell you some great books for interpreting them. Llewellyn, com also offers free web tarot readings! Cool, huh?

As far as why Pluto go the boot....It has an eccentric orbit that crosses the path of Neptune and also takes it well above and below the main plane of the solar system. Since nothing has been done to Pluto physically, there should be no changes in any of the 'cosmic forces' surrounding this late planet. However, I am willing to bet that this change will affect those Scorpios who believe deeply in the zodiac, simply from the psychosematics of it all. Hon, I wouldn't worry, it's all in your head...you're not going to turn into a schizo over this, so relax and don't get too carried away with it.

Recently posted on my local community bulletin board:
I think the people??
of Pluto should attack
Earth for kicking them
out of the solar system!
(i'd be p---ed)
LOL.... kicked out? hey, that would take a *lot* of delta-V!
And, yes, it's Pluto, the little runty one on the end...
Oh, yes, the question! Um, from what I know about astrology and its assimilation of knowledge from astronomy, the physical characteristics of a heavenly body are far more important than any mere name. I doubt it will affect astrology at all.
Nothing has changed but a bit of jargon.

I don't think so.... the zodiac has been around much longer than this littel 'downsizing' comment ... and the fact that Pluto is designated as no longer a planet ... is bazaar to me ...
sorry, I don't know much about the scientific end of the topic... but like you I love Saturn.

it was pluto that drew the short straw, however it will not affect the zodiac charts. modern astrologers, the astrologers that actualy accepted pluto as a planet will not shun its power on people's chart. it still will have the same affects on our charts. and might even co-rule scorpio still.
