I use to have stock in a few companies but dont remember what I ever did with it. I dont have any type of papers anymore and can not remember the name of the companies. How can I find out if they are still mine, in my name or ss#?

Check with your brokerage house....
Chances are - since you didn't mention receiving a 1099 form- that either the companies are defunct
or you could have forgotten that you sold the stock

If you haven't received a Quarter report, a form 1099, a "notice" from the IRS, a report from the brokerage house....
you probably don't own the "missing" stock
or it's gone belly up

Broker is the first stop
