1) I have an Aunt who married for his money, They've divorced and both broke.
2) My mother and biological father divorced when I was a year and a half.
3) My Bio-Father got remarried to another woman after they had a kid. A few years go by, he has an excellent government job, but not much time to spend at home. Paying off mortgage on a 50,000 dollar home. She becomes ungreatful brat, divorces him. In divorce court, wants house, house rights, kids, spousal support, child support. She only got the house, spousal support, child support. She never got the house rights, or the money from his portion of the mortgage. The Greedy B.

4) I've met a bunch of guys who can't see their kids anymore, and get their work checks raped when they go to work, not even leaving enough to live on(roof and food), lower than minimum wages. If they get 50 bucks, their lucky to see 10 of it.

5) My Grandma (from my mother's side) was married to her 5th husband for 23 years until her death.---Go Grandma!!!

You have a great case against marriage there. I would have agreed with you until a few weeks ago. I met my "soul mate" two weeks ago and now I have changed my attitude about marriage. I had a bad marriage and loved my single life. I was happy with things the way they were. I met someone I thought would become a good friend, but the rockets went off for both of us and life hasn't been the same since. It look like we will both give up our single ways and give matrimony another chance. Why? Because we love each other so much that we want to be there for the other until the end. Sounds corny, but it is how we feel.

OK let's see you gave 5 examples of marriages, and only 1 that seemed to have any lasting power to it. Go Grandma.
It's a shame that your bio parents produced this extremely poor example of marriage for you to emulate. Now how about 5 examples of marriage that disprove everything you have been tought? I will start with my own marriage.
1. My wife and I have been married 29+ years. It's not just the amount of time that is important, it is also that we are best friends, and weather you believe in it or not we consider each other to be soul mates. Sure we have problems from time to time, but we have learned to work things out. For both of us our marriage, and the love it's based on is the overriding force in our lives. By the way, she was 17, and I was 18 when we got married.
2. I have 3 brothers, and 1 sister who are all older than me. I'm the baby of the bunch. All four of them are on their first and only marriages in their lives. The shortest amount of time any one of us has been married is 17 years. The longest 51 years
3. My paternal grandparents Were married in 1908, until his death in 1962. 54 years.
4. I have an aunt that is 95. Her marriage lasted 50 years 1931-1981. She still drives to her senior center a couple of times a week and volunteers there.
5. My best friend, has been married 3 times. Sure it took him 3 times to get it right, but he and his 3rd wife both swear daily that this is for life. They have similar carreers, and couldn't be happier. As for the other two divorces? They worked out settlements that were amicable for both, and went their seperate ways. Maybe not totally happy, but they had lives after divorce. I still have intermittant contact with wife number 2 as we both work for the same company.
Marriage only works if the two people involved truly love one another, and are committed to working on their marriage every day for life. The inescapable fact that people change as the years go by must be accepted in the beginning, and the two involved must work to incorporate these changes into their lives.
You want a number one reason to get married in the united states, let me give you several
1. Love- Nothing else matters without it
2. Friendship- Best friends, make the best married partners.
3. Companionship- No matter how many cats you have when you are a 50 year old spinster, as loving as a cat might be, it'll never match the love and warmth of a loving companion next to you.
4 Support - Married people do it constantly. Lets face it in the world of 2006 s... happens. Sometimes a lot of it. The support of a loving spouse helping you through lifes pitfalls is priceless.
5. intamacy-no not just sex- I mean real intamacy. The kind that lets you know how special you are to your better half. In example, just yesterday, My wife and I were at a mall shopping. We were at a store that caused me to flash back on a very disturbing memory. The exact details are unimportant to the story. Frankly I became quite upset, and had to walk away to calm down. My wife noticed me leaving, and saw how upset I was. She let me have my space for a moment, and then came over to comfort me. She already knew before she asked what I was upset about, and stayed with me until I regained my composure. That's real intamacy. Knowing each other that well that problems are recognized when they happen, and each other has the compassion to comfort the other as long as needed.
Please don't use the few bad examples you cited to rob you of lifes most precious encounter. Marriage may not be the easiest relationship a couple of people can have, But I'm here to tell you if you want it, and work at it, it can definately be the best.

See.. that's the reason one needs to get married only if there's love and understanding. Otherwise a relationship hardly ever lasts..
