Yes and no. It really depends on the area, in the business/work place women are at a disadvantage. Ever heard of the term "glass ceiling?" It applies here. Women almost never get the grossly over paying CEO, CFO jobs.

However in domestic life, marriage, dating, women have a huge advantage. In divorces, women typically get custody of children as well as half or more of the money. Dating, women aren't expected to pay. (One might argue it's because they don't have the grossly over paying jobs)

Society is not yet equal for both genders. It over compensates in certain areas.

Unfortunately, in some places, yes. I live in the South, & women are not expected to be assertive. If a woman says the same thing that a man has said on a different occasion, she can't get away with it like he can....
