i have a laptop and i dont want to burn the pixles. what is the longest amount of time you should leave it on for?

if it's new laptop, you should not worry about that. You cannot burn pixels (else take a zero pixel defect warranty).....but if you keep your laptop on while displaying the same picture.....you may get a problem (but it may take days).

if you have an old laptop, i recommand you to activate the screen saver.

I don't understand why you need to keep your laptop on for a long time, just activate the screnn saver...

Not sure if you mean the LCD display attached to the laptop, or the monitor you may have attached to a docking station.

I leave my docking station monitor turned on 24x7, but have the power-saver feature enabled so it goes to screen-blank mode after 10 or 15 minutes.

On a laptop, the biggest issue isn't pixel burn-in, but the backlight of the LCD display getting worn out and dim. It's probably rated at 10,000 or 20,000 hours, do the math yourself to see how many hours/day you can use over 3 or 4 years. Again, screen blanking is your friend here....
