easiest way is to do it through your firewall i use zonealarm but even with the standard windows firewall its very easy to block sites also try these mozilla add ons-https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/

i am not sure how to block the sites the way you want to, but i can say that i am sold on mozilla. there is no comparison between internet explorer and mozilla, no pop-ups and much more security.but for what you,re trying to do go into tools, then internet options, and click on the security tab and you should find what you need in there.

The easies way to block a site for a whole computer is to edit the hosts file. I'll assume you're on Win XP. Start Notepad and open the file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

In this file you'll see a line like:
127.0.0.1 localhost

After that line add a line with the site name that you want to block:
127.0.0.1 www.google.com

Save the file, and anytime that any browser on the computer tries to access the site, it will fail.
