If they are kinda crampy and sudden and usually happen when you move a certain way or even cough or laugh- it sounds like round ligament pains. I had them alot with my second pregnancy. I think the bigger you get the more they hurt. They are extremely sharp and hurt pretty bad- enough to stop you in your tracks and say "ouch!" or even "damn!" but they shouldn't last long... they're sharp and quick. The tummy might ache for a second afterward but that should go away quick. They usually only occur on one side at a time. However, if your pains are on both sides, are coming no matter what you do, start coming in a pattern (however pattern it is), and feel like your tummy is tightening even slightly- then I wound have to say that this might be it... the big day! Call your OB and let her know. Good luck :)

And I'm her kinda' chuckling because naturally everyone jumps to "you're in labor!!!"

There are some reall idiots here trying to scare the living crap out of you.

If you think that it may be labor pains call your dr. He will return your phone call and tell you what to do.

If they really are in your side and not in your belly or back area. Try to lay down and relax. Being this far along in your pregnancy you will have all sorts of pains because all your bits and peices are being pulled into every direction.

If they continute to be bothersome and don't go away with you relaxing you could alsp call your Dr for that.

But I can tell you this...every labor is different and different pains. With my son it was all in my back and down my legs. With my daughter it felt like my rectum was splitting in two. I have also had it described as sharp pain in the sides and belly region. If they are contractions, they will come and go. Time them. If they get to be 3-5 mins apart you better head to the hospital. relax and try to remain calm.

Good luck and congrats and think about holding that little one in your arms and relax. You are almost there.

Hi,
Why are you asking the same questions over and over? I know I've personally answered two other questions from you exactly like this one. Originally you said you were 3.5 cm dilated, that you just lost your plug, and you're feeling back pains? I saw your other posting that said you're 2.5 cm? Are you really pregnant? If you are, then you need to take people's advice get yourself to a hospital and have your ob-gyn check you out, instead of being at your computer asking the same thing over and over again. Go ask your doctor...trust me, if it is your first child, they're not gonna laugh at you for wanting to be sure. Heck, they won't laugh even if it's your fifth child...just call your doctor...

No. Talk to you doctor. I went through the same thing but in my 8th month and it turned out I was passing kidney stones. The pains could cause you to go into labor early so call your doc as soon as you can.

The pains can be tendons stretching, but hey see a doctor anyway. To ease the pain try a very warm bath not too hot though or you may pass out when you try to get out.

Had this with both of my kids. During the last onth the baby grows the most causing your belly to stretch more. It's just your belly growing at a fast rate.
