Hi!
The correct spell is actually "FORZA".
It means, literally: force, strenght, power. And when used as cheer is moe related to the translations: courage and will.

"Forza" is used in Italy as "Go!" in the US. Italians say: "Forza Italia", Americans say "Go Tigers!". That's the main sense.

Sure, the word "forza" implies a lot more because, in itself it says much more. However, when peaking about football is mainly a cheer.
The Cheer for the Italian National Football team is "Forza Azzurra" or "Forza Azzurri". The term is also be used when cheering any other italian team: "Forza Juve", "Forza Milan", "Forza Roma". I'm sure you've heard it!

Goodluck!

'justasking' is fully correct.
'Forza azzurri' has not real meaning, it's only the usual way to urge your fav team / champion, and 'Go Italy' is a good translation..
'Forza Italia' was the more common cheer, but since Silvio Berlusconi called his political party in the same way (sounds oddily, but it's true, try to imagine to have 'Go USA' instead of 'Republicans'!), it was usually replaced with the neutral 'Forza Azzurri'.
Azzurro is light blue, the usual jerseys color in Italy teams and sports because it was the color of former Italian Royal House Savoia. Azzurri is the nickname of Italian Sports team.
