The washer and dryer is the best thing to get rid of dust. I even though my pillows in the dyer o get rid of dust mite.
Dry cleaners use some very strong chemicals to clean things with, I wouldn't chance using them.

I don't know if it's safe or not, but you can put a teddy bear in the washing machine in a pillowcase and then dry it in the dryer. I've done this with stuffed animals and it works well.

No, do not send it to th dry cleaners. The chemicals they use are not good for you to inhale. Especially, for ans asthmatic. Wash it in the washer using aunscented and uncolored detergant. Dry on fluff or low heat.

I would never dry clean it. I am chemical sensitive and have asthma. I always wash stuffed animals in cold water and just shake them up in a cool dryer for like 2 minutes and set them out to dry and never ruined one of my daughters animals.
No dry cleaning even our good clothes in this house. I did it by hand

I think it's safe. It for sure gets all the dust off. I put mine in the washer and dryer and it always works. Just make sure that it's in one piece, otherwise you might have fluff everywhere. Personal experience. =/.
