Do we really think that, one of these days, they're going to talk back?

It's not that they might talk back,just the opposite in fact.

A friend asked me one time if I preferred dogs over people. After thinking about it for a bit, I answered It depends on the dog.
I have always talked to my dogs. I think it makes them more intelligent. If I tell them "Mom's home" they race to the front door and wait for her. They know the words outside, no, snack, kitty cat, and several others.
Dogs can talk, you have to learn to understand their language.

No... but they're a good way to let everything out. A dog is someone who can listen to all of your problems without complaining, and you can be sure that it won't tell ANYBODY

I think we talk to things we care about. Like dogs, cats, plants. Some people treat dogs better than people.

My dogs talk back to me all the time. My question would have to be why do we talk to people???

I watched too much Scooby Doo as a kid...that combined with smoking whatever Scooby Doo was smoking lead me to believe that dogs talk back...they always talk back...and they have not been saying nice things about you.

It's our way to bond with the dog. Plus if you live in the city...it's almost a requirement because they need to go out just like us

dogs do talk back, but 90% of what a dog is saying is all body languish. the other 10% is growling and barking.

Dogs are mans and womans best friend and they will listen.It just eases the mind to talk to someone or a pet.

They have the best listening skills and they look at you as if you were brilliant and they understand most of what we say. I just told my dog Mr Spock to get the chewy toy he got it. And he does the hula on demand too!
