I've recently switched to Mac and I can honestly say, I'm in love. There's just no question any more... Mac is the way to go. There isn't one thing that you can't do on a Macintosh, thanks to Apple's BootCamp software. Now that Macs can run Windows, you will find that you can have the best of both worlds. Even though you CAN run Windows, you'll find yourself spending more time using Mac OS X. A new Mac will come with everything you need to organize your music and photos. You can edit digital videos and make beautiful DVD movies. Best of all, it's so easy. It's all drag and drop. You'll be amazed at the things a Mac can do right out of the box. Don't be intimidated by the fear of trying something new. You'll love Mac, too. It's a wonderful time to switch. Before Windows Vista ships, there will be a new version of Mac OS X. It's called Leopard. Leopard is set to blow Vista right out of the water. I've seen the previews, and it looks amazing. There's tons of new features to get excited about. I could spend all day going over all of the reasons why you should own a Mac. Just spend some time browsing the Apple website and you'll find out all kinds of fascinating things about Mac. Good luck!

Mac's actually can't get viruses except through microsoft programs, such as word for macs. There are about 40 in total which can affect a mac, through a few flaws ( some of the widgets on the jaguar os, for example). Mac also updates the operating system very frequently, which helps guard against viruses. I was reading this article about Macs and viruses the other day, and that's what it said.

Aside from the viruses, I find the interface to be very intuitive, especially for media. Many visual artists use macs for their superior ability to deal with corel and other media programs. You can move most pictures and music from file to file with the mouse alone. You can put any picture you want from your pic collegtion up as your background and it's super easy. Deleting programs is really easy as well. And most microsoft programs are available for mac, which makes word processing a breeze. Appleworks is a good program, but if you need to email the document that could be a problem (unless they fixed that and I just dont know about it yet). And, they are stylish.

But! If you like computer games, get a normal pc... they are not compatible with most games. I know that certain versions of myst will run on macs, but if you are a gamer, this isn't the computer for you.

Where to begin... I know all of the hardcaore PC users are going to have a field day with this one, but, here goes...

I would highly recommend a mac for a user who may not be considered "highly computer savy". They are extremely easy to use. No drivers to load, no software to install (unless you want Office, or Photoshop etc). It comes pre-loaded with a suite of easy to use software that an everyday user would love. (iTunes and Garage Band for music, iPhoto for photos, iMovie for your video clips, iDVD to create dvds of your photos and movies, plus a built in web cam and email software and ...

Just go to the apple website and check out all of the options.

There are two kinds of users I wouldn't recommend an apple system for: major gamers and major computer geeks (now guys, before you jump down my throat, I mean people who like fooling around with their systems, adding ram, adding hard drives, video cards, custom configurations, etc. Geek is NOT a derogatory term!)

One last thing, as a long time mac user (at home and professionally) I can tell you I rarely have a problem I can't solve, and I can't think of 1 piece of software I have wanted that I couldn't get for a mac. Just stay out of the system folder and you'll be fine.

The commercials are true, it really is just pull it out of the box, plug it in and go.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

MACS CAN DO IT ALL, XP AND OSX Im getting a mackbook.

note: if you like games, get a macbook pro, most powerful notebook for awsome gaming experiences. Has a lot more graphics potential than PC hardware that ive seen

Before you buy compare how many software titles are available for the Mac as opposed to the PC. Especially if you like to play games.
