I know it's a famous book and all, but I've never really understood it and gotten into it. I'd like to know if I'm the only one who didn't like it. If you also didn't like that book, please say why.

You know, I majored in English. My focus was the Romantics, but really I read and love all 19th-century literature. Except Dickens. I flat cannot read Dickens. His books are so huge and meander-y they drive me nuts--and while I understand they were published in serial form and he had to stretch them out...still can't stand 'em.

I read the book as a senior in high school back in '74. It didn't make much of an impression on me because I cannot even remember the names of the main characters. Also, I have forgotten what the plot was about.
