In your own mind !

What I mean is use your imagination. I am an Aerospace Engineer by training and it never fails to amaze me how much imagination is lacking among formally educated Engineers. Imagine this: On a clear day, look up to the the sky, and as you see a Jet airplane flying overhead imagine how there are perhaps 300 people on board that plane all moving at almost the speed of sound inside an aluminium cylinder. Some of them are listening to their mp3 players, some of them are reading newspapers, some are sleeping but all of them are taking the experience for granted. As the flight attendants walk up and down the aisles serving peanuts, that same pressurised aluminium cylinder is hurtling through the atmosphere rushing to reach its destination. The Airframe is bending and twisting due to enroute trubulence and the jet engines are forcing out massive amounts of hot air from their exhaust as a busy air traffic control center tracks the whole charade on a little screen from 300 miles away. Nobody thinks this is a big deal yet less that a hundred years ago most people didn't even own a car !

I believe that your mind is the best place to start Aerospace Research. Go for the books and Museums later. Right now use your imagination to see things from a different point of view for this is what is lacking in modern Aerospace: Creative thinking!

Good Luck !
