yes and any router with a good range would suffice like netgear. you'll have to ask your landlord to install it to her/his network for you to recieve the wireless connection. if it's an apartment you live in you should just get dsl unless you can get a cable/broadband connection, which costs significantly more, but with higher speeds.

question: what kind of interconnection does your landlord have, a leaseline or wireless one?

having someone in your proximity who has internet connection doesn't mean you also have one. best is to know if a connection is available on your actual residence. ask your landlord if an internet connection is provided on the space you rent. if not, then contact any isp provider to set up one for you, whether wireless or lease line.

another thing, if your landlord uses wireless connection, seek the wireless isp provider. your landlord acts only as a workstation, not as a server.

a router will only work if you want to set up a network of your own, okay?

ciao....

If the house you live in has a wired internet connection, then your (wireless) laptop won't pick up any signal. You need to either install a high-powered PCMCIA card in your laptop (strong enough to pick up the local WiFi signal), OR use a wired connector from your laptop to an available ethernet port in your house. A router will only help if you don't have a wired ethernet port already available.

if ur landlord has a wireless internet ,then u r in luck but it has to b unsecured network.he or she has to hav wireless router with unsecured network.if he has a secured wireless network , then u need to ask for the network key(pass word).buying a router will not solve ur problem.
